The paper gives a survey of the life and work of the little known Yiddish writer Khaim Alexandrov. Born and educated in Russia in a period of social upheaval, Alexandrov soon associated himself with the revolutionary and labor movement. He came to the United States in 1898 after arrest and exile in Russia. A socialist by conviction though not by affiliation, he worked on the publications of the Socialist Labor Party and later in the International Library Publishing Company. Illness and paralysis overtook him soon and on June 25, 1909, he died. Alexandrov's literary theories and his role as a social poet are discussed. Two appendices contain some of Alexandrov's poems and opinions about him published at the time of his death.
